8 Autumn Interior Ideas

Autumn is all about being cosy, and as the nights draw in and the weather cools down there is nothing better than soft lighting and a warm blanket to make the cold nights lots more bearable… or even enjoyable! Whether Autumn is your favourite season or you’re dreading the colder months, we’ve got you covered with 8 Autumn Interior Ideas to help you create your own Autumnal haven to see you through the fall…

1. Extra Soft-Furnishings

First things first when it comes to getting cosy… an abundance of thick blankets and soft pillows to sink into with your hot cup of cocoa are top of our list. Adding extra cushions and throws over your sofas, beds and even your kitchen chairs will bring piles of cosiness to your home. Choose warm, Autumn colours that compliment your interior, such as burnt oranges and coppers if your colour scheme is green or blue. If you’re unsure what will match knock up a simple mood boards to see what colours you like together.

2. Warm Up Your Colour Palette

Following on from tip number one, adding in some warmer colours to your colour scheme will help you feel toasty on a cold night. Plaid patterned furnishings are also an Autumn staple.

3. Warm Up Your Lighting

Make sure you have warm toned bulbs in the lights you have on in the evenings, and put up some fairy lights for a sweet extra touch. This will help combat the dark evenings and look great at the same time.

4. Candles

Nothing says Autumn/Winter like a roaring fire, but if you can’t have a full blown fireplace (or even if you do!) candles are the perfect way to introduce some extra soft, warm lighting for that cosy feeling. Pick out pine or pumpkin spice scented options for that extra-Autumnal feel.

5. Lanterns

A great way to introduce some on-trend seasonal decor, try introducing some lanterns around your home. Fill them with fake candles, real candles or even seasonal foliage such as fallen leaves, conkers and pine cones.

6. Homemade Decorations

If like us you love a craft project, why not collect some seasonal foliage to create your own decorations? This is also a fantastic activity to do with the kids and gets the whole family out of the house! Search for the prettiest leaves, conkers, sycamore, pinecones and berries for your creations. Use the to create homemade garlands, wreaths or simply fill a vase for a stunning seasonal centrepiece.

7. Pumpkins

When we think Autumn we think pumpkin picking. Pop them around the house, use them for your table centrepiece, decorate your fireplace… there are endless ways to use them!

8. Change Up Your Tableware

Nothing says a change of season like a new table set up. A leafy wreath or other seasonal centrepiece, warm toned accessories and matching napkins can create a stunning effect that warms the whole room.
